Officer Candidate School Packet

So I have finished my packet. After months of trying to get recommendations and figuring out all the paper work, from my end it is complete. I just have to do a few edits and turn it in and my paperwork portion is done. Next it goes to a board, then they interview me and I write a one page paper on " Why I want to be an Officer."Then if the board of officers give me a stamp of approval it goes to the two star general of FT Sill. Then if he sings off on it, my packet goes on to PERSCOM and if they approve its off to Officer Candidate School. So its still got a ways to go but its nice to have this first step out of the way.

I had almost gave up on it being so difficult with paperwork, getting recommendations written from the two CPTs one MAJ and a COL ( the saying they would write them was the easy part but getting them in my hand took some time and a lot of reminding). But one day at PT we had finished running and my commander (CAPT Clark of the 40Th MPs) came up to me and asked how my packet was coming. I told him i was just about ready to give up cause i could not figure things out or get the recommendations finished or even no where to send it. He encouraged me to continue to work at it and that i should ask our XO ( executive officer ) cause she had done OCS. Since then she has helped me a ton and so has my 1SG ( First Sergeant).

So now on to the stuff that is really out of my hands and I could really use your prayers.

Airborne Airborne Infantry ! That is what I want to be!

Near Future Job Pursuits

I have a newer focus on what I want to do with my life. I will try my hardest to get into OCS and be come an officer.

From there I would like to pursue my passion of education and helping the young adult. I want to start out teaching history, Poly Sci , Eco or just anything I can on a high school level and maybe even coach some. Then at some point i want to be a high school principal.

I think as a army officer the most effective role from commander of military to "commander" of a school.

I want to see young adults grow and to accomplish great things. And after the army I would like to do all of this with in Katy isd.

I need to get in OCS and I need to get my masters so it will take some work. But its nice to have a focused Goal that I am passioned about.

Why I Want to be a Renaissance Man

After awhile of not blogging I am back.........I just have way to many thoughts, opinions and stories that my friends are starting to get tired of them.Much has changed since I last wrote a blog. I am now a soldier in the US Army , its not bad but I do not too much care for my job as a Chaplain Assistant and currently trying put in my officer candidate packet. I will probably never go into full time ministry for a church . If I do any official form it will just be as a volunteer or unpaid. I do not like the Idea of a church firing you just for reasons of pay.

This blog will be different that the past it will be a broader scope of subjects that just me , the church and the stuff I use to write about.

It will be about philosophy, politics , history , military , war , love , peace , the news and a lot broader range of topics. I am going to try and treat this more as an opinion column rather that an autobiography. I am going to try to bring more Facts and true stories of history to the table.

I want to be a renaissance man because I enjoy being well rounded. I do not want to be stuck in one type of thinking I want to look at all sides. I want to give my opinions and thoughts from many different foundations. Wikipedia defines and sums it up well (curious how would you format or give credit to Wikipedia?Forgive me plagiarism Police)

"A polymath (Greek polymathēs, πολυμαθής, "having learned much")[1] is a person whose knowledge is not restricted to one subject area. In less formal terms, a polymath (or polymathic person) may simply refer to someone who is very knowledgeable. Most ancient scientists were polymaths by today’s standards.[2]
The terms Renaissance Man and, less commonly, Homo Universalis (Latin for "universal man" or "man of the world") are related and used to describe a person who is well educated or who excels in a wide variety of subjects or fields.[3] This idea developed in Renaissance Italy from the notion expressed by one of its most accomplished representatives, Leon Battista Alberti (1404–72): that “a man can do all things if he will.” It embodied the basic tenets of Renaissance Humanism which considered man empowered, limitless in his capacities for development, and led to the notion that people should embrace all knowledge and develop their capacities as fully as possible. Thus the gifted men of the Renaissance sought to develop skills in all areas of knowledge, in physical development, in social accomplishments and in the arts."
And that basically sums up what this Blog will be about and who I want to be and leave a legacy as.
